Three houses join to show money and work in a kundli, not one. The 2nd house (Dhana bhava) is accumulated, saved wealth and family resources. The 6th house (Ari bhava) is daily work, service and the effort that funds everything else. The 11th house (Lābha bhava) is gains and income as they actually arrive. They're read together — a strong 11th with a weak 2nd can mean money that comes and goes; a strong 2nd with a quiet 11th can mean stability without much new inflow.
Each house is read the same way as any other: its lord (wherever that planet actually sits), its occupants, and the aspects reaching it — never a single glance at "what sits in the 2nd" in isolation. And none of the three, alone or together, states an exact income figure or an exact date of a raise. That precision simply isn't what a house reading gives.
1. Why three houses, not one
A kundli reading that points at a single "money house" is simplifying past the point of being useful. The classical significations (Parāśari, per Bṛhat Parāśara Horā Śāstra, Bhāvādhyāya) place saving, working and earning in three different houses, and standard Parāśari practice reads all three together — because saving, working and earning are genuinely different things, a person can have one strong and the other two quiet, and the chart should be able to say so.
Each of the three also sits differently in the classical groupings: the 2nd belongs to none of the kendra (1/4/7/10), trikoṇa (1/5/9) or duḥsthāna (6/8/12) sets. The 6th is a duḥsthāna and, at the same time, an upachaya — which is exactly why the honest reading of it is effort and service rather than doom. The 11th is an upachaya too: one of the houses whose matters classically build with time and sustained effort, rather than being fixed at birth.
2. The 2nd house — accumulated wealth (Dhana)
The 2nd house's core significations: accumulated wealth, family resources (kutumba), speech, food, and early education. Think of it as the store, not the flow — savings, assets, and family financial standing, plus how a person speaks and is spoken of. A well-placed 2nd house classically points to an ability to hold onto and grow wealth over years, not a one-time windfall.
The 2nd's classical list puts speech and family resources alongside wealth — dhana, kutumba, vāk and anna all belong to this one bhāva. The texts group them under the same house without deriving one from the other, and a careful reading works with the whole list rather than picking wealth out of it on its own.
3. The 6th house — daily work and effort (Ari)
The 6th house's core significations: illness and recovery, debts, obstacles, service and daily work, and competition. It's one of the three dusthāna ("demanding") houses, and it's routinely misread as simply bad — the honest classical framing is effort, service and problem-solving. This is the house of the actual grind: the job you show up to, the competitive process you go through to get it, and the debts or obstacles you work through along the way.
A difficult 6th house is not a curse on someone's career — it's a signal of demanding, effort-heavy work, which is a different thing entirely from a career that fails. Plenty of strong, hard-earned careers run through a heavily-occupied 6th house. One boundary matters here: the 6th is employment and daily duty — the work itself. Your profession, standing and public role are the 10th house (Karma); this article is the money-and-work cluster, and a full career reading brings the 10th in alongside these three.
4. The 11th house — gains and income (Lābha)
The 11th house's core significations: gains, income realised, fulfilment of desires, elder siblings, and social networks and friends. This is the house money and results actually land in — the chart's dedicated house of gains, and an upachaya house, one of the four (3rd, 6th, 10th, 11th) — houses of increase, whose matters classically build over time and effort rather than being fixed at birth.
Where the 2nd is what's saved and the 6th is the work that goes in, the 11th is where that work converts into money and results actually received — a paycheck landing, a deal closing, a promotion coming through.
Reading them together: a strong 6th with a strong 11th describes effort that tends to convert into gains. A strong 2nd with a quiet 11th describes stability and saved resources without much new income arriving. A strong 11th with a weak 2nd can describe money that comes in but doesn't stay saved. None of these combinations is read from one house alone — always all three, together, alongside the dasha period running at the time.
5. How each house is actually read
Same rule as every other bhāva in the chart (see the full houses guide for the framework): a house is read from its lord (the planet ruling the sign on that house, wherever it actually sits in the chart), its occupants (planets physically sitting inside it), and the aspects reaching it. A planet occupying the 11th colours it directly; the 11th house's own lord carries its result no matter which house that lord itself sits in. Both matter, and a reading that only checks one is reading the chart incompletely.
6. The honest limit
No kundli reading — Ravitra's included — states an exact salary figure, a lottery-style windfall, or a guaranteed exact date of a raise or a job offer. What a chart can honestly show is a tendency (which of the three houses is strong, and what kind of money pattern that suggests) and a timing window — drawn from the dasha period running, not the houses alone. A house placement without a timing period attached says "what kind", never "when" or "how much".
How Ravitra reads your money and work houses
Ravitra computes your real 2nd, 6th and 11th houses from your exact birth details — Lahiri sidereal, whole-sign houses — and reads each one the correct way: lord traced to wherever it actually sits, its occupants, and the aspects reaching it, together with the dasha period running when you ask. The full house-by-house breakdown lives in your Janma Patrika, and you can ask about any of the three directly in chat.
See your real money and work houses
Ravitra computes your exact 2nd, 6th and 11th houses from your real birth details, then reads them together — never one in isolation, never a fake number.

Which house shows money in a kundli?
No single house — the 2nd (saved wealth), the 6th (daily work and effort) and the 11th (income and gains) together, each a distinct piece of the picture.
What does the 2nd house mean in astrology?
Accumulated wealth, family resources, speech, food and early education — the store, not the flow.
Is the 6th house good or bad for money and career?
Neither — it's the daily-effort house: service, competition, debts and obstacles alongside routine work itself (career/status is the separate 10th house). A demanding-work signal, never a curse.
What does the 11th house show about income?
Gains, income realised, fulfilment of desires, elder siblings and social networks — the chart's dedicated house of gains.
Can a kundli predict an exact salary or when I'll get rich?
No — an honest reading shows a tendency and a timing window via the houses' lords, occupants, aspects and the dasha running, never an exact amount.
